Note: Last Friday (10/27/17) the substitute teacher left some pretty rough notes about how the day went. She mentioned that the students were wild, there was constant talking, students not following directions, many students taking breaks and she was upset by their behavior. I am very disappointed in my class, because I know they all know our classroom expectations and they would never act this way around me. It turns out students were evening using things that they know they aren't allowed to be using. It is disappointing that we normally would have 10 more students in a typical 1st grade classroom and with only 13 it went so poorly. She noted that she couldn't pick out even 1 or 2 students that didn't cause trouble. I encourage you to talk to your student about this briefly at home. On Thursday we spent a lot of time going over expectations and how to act for the sub in preparation for Friday. We spent a lot of time again today.
