This Week!

Math:  Topic 10 on adding Tens and Ones using different strategies.

Reading:  New Strategy: Making Inferences and Making Predictions.

Writing:  Publishing Personal Narratives and learning about Informational Reports.

Phonics: Varient Vowel "ur", "er", "ir". Words like burn, clerk, first, stern, fur and bird.  

Sight Words: place, live, year, work, know

Social Studies: Starting Chapter 8: What groups do we belong to?

Friday - First Grade Music Concert at 12:30! Students will be preforming and have time after the concert to quickly see family and friends. Students are expected to dress their best this day!  Movie night, doors open at 5:30. Coco and Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be showing at 6pm. Food and Drinks will be available for purchase! Oh it is also Dr. Suess' Birthday!

Math: Testing Topic 9 on comparing 2 digit numbers on Tuesday. We are working on 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, 1 less! Greater than and less than. We will begin Topic 10 on adding Tens and Ones.

Reading:  Fix-Up Monitoring Strategy and Summarizing. It is Reader's Theater week!

Writing:  Publishing Personal Narratives and starting Informational Reports.


Phonics: Variant Vowel "ar". Words like charm, yard, card, spark, park, and smart.


Sight Words: new, sound, take, only, little

Reading:  Fix-Up Monitoring Strategy and Summarizing. This week we will design a book cover and reading in the hallway for I Love to Read Month. Scholastic book order is due Friday. Don't forget to be recording books to reach our goal!

Writing:  Finishing Personal Narratives, starting Informational Reports soon. We have been talking about describing and overused words. We will write a card/letter to our Reading Buddy!


Phonics: Y as a vowel, sounds like i or e. Words like try, funny,  happy, cry, baby, sky.


Sight Words: come, may, part, over, made


Social Studies: Chapter 6 on Maps!
